Masahito joined FC Imabari from Yanagigaura High School in 2015.

His good performances in the JFL (fourth national tier) caught the eyes of Shonan Bellmare where he was on loan in 2019, scoring his first J1 goal right in his debut match against Vegalta Sendai in March that year.

From 2020 season on, he plays for J2 side Montedio Yamagata.

Masahito Onoda is a large-scaled defender with strengths in the air, man to man battle and highly developed attacking capabilities which where fostered during his years as a forward at youth level.
