INTRODUCTION

When Genki was in his third year at Ryutsu Keizai University Kashiwa High School, he massively contributed to winning both the All-Japan Youth Tournament as well as the National High School Championship as the ace striker of his team. He also was the first youth player in history to obtain the top scorer crown in all major youth football tournaments, including the Inter-Highschool Championships.

He earned a contract from J1 side SHIMIZU S-PULSE in 2008 and scored the 1st goal of his professional career in a league cup match against FC TOKYO in June 2009. His first pro goal was the precious equalizer against Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the opening game of the 2010 J.League season.

He kept on constantly scoring also in the following matches, finishing the season with appearances in all league games and as his team’s top scorer. These achievements caught the eye of BUNDESLIGA club FORTUNA DÜSSELDORF who he joined in January 2013. After half a year of struggling with Fortuna, the club was relegated at the end of the season and in order to secure constant opportunities to play, he returned to SHIMIZU in August 2013.

In the course of the following seasons with SHIMIZU he was forced to go through relegation again in 2015, but his 18 goals greatly contributed to the direct come-back to the first J.League division in 2016.

In 2017, he moved to OMIYA ARDIJA and became top scorer of the second J.League division during the 2018 season.

He is a striker who creates chances by rushing into the little spaces behind defense lines at the edge of playing off-side and his high-speed cut-in dribblings frequently cause big problems to his opponents.
