INTRODUCTION

Shinji Ono has been playing football ever since he can remember, and called 'genius'.

His career in the world is very early, starting from his first selection of U-16 Japan National Team, and after that he was selected to every category of Japan National Team.

He joined to URAWA REDS from Shimizu Shogyo high school in 1998, and he participated in the FIFA World Cup 1998 as a youngest player ever.

He led the team to be a finalist of the FIFA World Youth Championship 1999 as a captain and he was named Best-eleven.

He was injured in the Asian qualification for Olympic Football Tournament 2000 in 1999, but came back in 2000.

He moved to FEYENOORD ROTTERDM, Netherland in 2001, and made great contribution for the club soon as a leading player including  winning the UEFA Cup.

He played all matches of the FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan in 2002, and made great contribution for the team and they played in the knockout stage of the World Cup first ever.

He also took part in the Olympic Football Tournament 2004 as an over-age player, and led the team.

He moved to URAWA REDS again in 2006, and took part in the FIFA World Cup 2006.

He was very successful as a vital player of URAWA REDS with Tadaaki Hirakawa that is a teammates in high school, they won the J.League Division1 and Asian Champions League.

He moved to VFL BOCHUM(BUNDESLIGA) in January 2008, and made a contribution for the club by his high technique.

He moved to SHIMIZU S-PULSE in 2010 January, it's been 2 years since the last time in J.League and led the team as a leading player.

In 2013, He moved to WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS FC, Australia, it's the 3rd challenge to overseas, and made great contribution for the club and won the regular season soon. 

He moved to CONSADOLE SAPPORO in 2014 June after  WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS FC had won against J.League Champion SANFRECCE HIROSHIMA with his assists in the Round 16 of the AFC Champions League.
