Takuya Honda was selected to U-16,17 National Team when Toko Gakuen high school student, and he was selected to U-23 National team when Hosei University student.
He joined SHIMIZU S-PULSE after graduation from the University, and got the starting lineup at the first game of rookie year and he participated in Olympic Football Tournament 2008.
He got his first selection of Japan National Team, under the head coach "Alberto Zaccheroni", in 2010, and made a great contribution for the AFC Asian Cup 2011.
He often blockes scoring opportunity by his clever positioning and make a lot of excellent passes from the middle position.
He moved to KASHIMA ANTLERS from SHIMIZU S-PULSE in 2011 and came back to SHIMIZU S-PULSE in summer 2013.
In 2017, he moved to MONTEDIO YAMAGATA and became a skipper.
In 2021, he left MONTEDIO YAMAGATA, where he played for more than 120 games over four years, to join FC GIFU.
