We would like to announce that Takahiro Sekine has joined A-league, Sydney FC from Urawa Reds
Takahiro’s comment for Urawa Reds
“To everyone connected with Urawa Reds,
Including my years in the academy, I have spent 17 years at this club—more than half of my life. There have been countless unforgettable matches, but the heartbreak of losing the AFC Champions League final after returning in the summer of 2019, and then the joy of taking revenge against the same opponent to lift the AFC Champions League trophy in 2023, are memories I will cherish forever. Winning Asia and representing Urawa Reds on the world stage with pride was an incredibly special experience. At the same time, it made me realize how much stronger I wanted to become. No matter where I go, Urawa Reds will always be my home. I truly believe I have given everything I had to this club—for the titles, and for the moments when we could celebrate those achievements together. To be honest, there were many times when I felt like giving up. But the unwavering support and belief of our fans always gave me the strength to keep going. For the rest of my football career, I will continue to believe in myself and strive to make it the best it can be.
In football, you never know what the future holds, so I hope our paths will cross again someday. Thank you so much for everything.
WE ARE REDS"
Takahiro’s comment for Sydney FC
“I’m incredibly excited to join Sydney FC and experience a new challenge in the A-League. I have great memories of playing against Australian clubs in the AFC Champions League, including Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers FC. Sydney FC is a club with a proud history, passionate supporters and big ambitions. I want to help the team succeed, bring excitement to our fans and play beautiful football that everyone enjoys watching. This is a fresh challenge for me and my family, and I can’t wait to get started and give everything for this club."
