INTRODUTION

Ryuji Sugimoto is a skillful attacking midfielder with a fine technique, sharp dribblings and a strong mentality.

He was promoted to Tokyo Verdy’s top team in 2012, after spending several years in the club’s youth academy teams.

Ryuji was on loan to Machida Zelvia in 2013 and then returned to Tokyo Verdy in 2014.

After his come-back to Verdy, he played as one of the most trusted attackers of his team and has from then on been selected to various Japanese youth national teams.

He moved on to Nagoya Grampus in 2017. In February 2018, J2 side Tokushima Vortis signed Ryuji and after two years of constantly good performances he joined the J1 defending champions Yokohama F-Marinos in 2020. Then in 2021, he moved to Tokyo Verdy on a permanent transfer.
