INTRODUTION
Born January 16, 1995 in Osaka prefecture, Japan.
Takumi Mimamino is considered to be an up-and-coming attacker gifted with high speed, astonishing his spectators with excellent technical skills combined with defensive capabilities as well as a strong mind.
He first signed with Cerezo Osaka in 2013, coming up from the club’s youth academy. He made his J1 debut though in 2012, registered for the top team while also still being an U-18 player. He also scored his first goal for the top team in 2012 during an Emperor’s Cup match.
He played 38 matches and scored 8 goals in his first pro year, eventually winning the J.League Rookie of the Year Award.
Moreover, as the first high school graduate rookie player in J.League history, Takumi managed to make it into his team’s starting eleven at the opening game of his debut season.
He has been selected to various Japanese youth national teams, constantly playing as a vital team component, e.g. in 2011 he participated in the FIFA U-17 World Cup with Japan until the quarter finals. He received his first call-up to the Japanese A National Team in 2014 and was named as a member of the preliminary list of players for the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil at the age of 19.
He moved to FC Red Bull Salzburg who are a big Austrian club with a long history in January 2015.
Thanks to his constantly good performances, also in the international cup tournaments with Salzburg, he caught the eyes of famous and defending UEFA Champions League winners Liverpool FC who signed him in December 2019.
In February 2021, he joined Southampton FC on loan, to have more playing time. He has been steadily increasing his playing time by scoring goal especially his first match for Southampton FC. After spending just over two years at Anfield, Takumi joined AS Monaco on a permanent transfer in June 2022
